DESCRIPTION:The 2nd Annual Ladies Bird Dog Camp brings together female handlers of all abilities and bird dogs of all breeds (pointing and flushing). The audit spots are perfect for those that can’t make the entire weekend or can’t bring their own dog. We will have a “loaner” dog for you to use for some applications so that you may enjoy a fully engaging and interactive learning session. DESCRIPTION:VSS and Blue Kai Kennels proudly offer this amazing 3-day clinic for women who want a better bird dog and a phenomenal working and willing partner in the field. This event will sell out! We will offer a wait list. Can’t make the entire event or can’t bring your dog? Audit spots are available\, please book through Audit listing. \nProfessional trainer\, Sharon Potter\, owner/operator of Red Branch Kennels\, will walk you through every facet of what is required to have a great bird dog. She will cover wonder lead training\, whoa post\, force fetch\, how to build steadiness\, and so much more\, all while teaching you how to read your dog. Think of this as Bird Dog 101!!! Sharon’s methodology allows the handler to build a stronger working relationship with the dog and helps the dog better understand what is being asked and the best way to respond. When the dog makes the decision\, it has a far greater\, lasting impression. \nSharon’s 3-day format allows women of all backgrounds and bird dog abilities to come together and share ideas\, stories and best practices all while working towards a solid bird dog that loves their job just as much as we love them! \nClinic includes full 3-days of instruction\, education and problem solving\, continental breakfast\, lunch\, birds\, swag bag (for you and your pup!) and continuing education opportunities. Open to all breeds and handlers of all abilities. Participants must be 14yo+. This event is rain or shine. Only $750pp. Non-refundable $100 deposit required to confirm reservation. Remaining balance due April 1st. Space is limited to just 16 handlers to maximize interaction and training opportunities. Campers welcome (no hook-ups). \nAbout Sharon Potter: \nSharon Potter is a full-time professional gun dog trainer. She is known for her incredible work with retriever and pointing breeds and their owners\, at her facility\, Red Branch Kennels in Wisconsin Rapids at the edge of the Buena Vista Grasslands. She brings a lifetime of knowledge in animal training having honed those skills under the extensive tutelage of Rick Smith and Ronnie and Susanna Smith. \nAn avid hunter of birds and big game\, she is one of a handful of women to have taken a Pope & Young record book cougar with a bow. Sharon’s specialty is teaching people to understand training from their dog’s point of view\, which makes it easier for both the dog and the owner.  With her strong interest in animal behavior\, she works with shaping the dog’s instinctive behavior when training.  She has worked with clients from as far away as South Africa and New Zealand as well as throughout the US and Canada.  Sharon writes a regular training column for Pointing Dog Journal in partnership with noted trainer Rick Smith and also writes feature pieces for Retriever Journal. She loves raising Chesapeake Bay Retrievers and competing in field trials.
